Mac Tips Tricks and sometimes painful resolves

_appleicon.png Why  a tips and tricks...  well I must say as a mac user of over 12 years, I commonly run into problems with all of my macs. I find I am constantly searching for answers in forums and all over and here are the final answers to most of these issues I have.  I like to share with you my resolve that normally takes me an additional 20 minutes to google to find the correct answer.  Enjoy!

Compressor Qmaster

If you are like me...  well  - first you would be avoiding Final Cut Pro as much as possible - But as for compressor.  Here is a neat little trick to get your compressor running much faster.

First go into System Prefs --->  Qmaster and Stop Sharing - ( you may have to unlock depending on your settings )   From There click Options for selected service-  A dialog box will appear.  This number it is asking you to choose it the amount of processors you can use.  I normally would select half to less than half.  I have found using more can cause crashes and problems.  Once you have selected - Choose Start sharing.

Now Open up compressor -

Once you have set your settings and source for your file and submit - You will be asked about where to send it-

Compressor Submit

Mac Book Pro Battery Issues

Recently I was asked about an issue pertaining to the mac book pros batteries - This is an issue I have seen and had - And I must add that Apple is not that great about the resolve- If you do have issues...  note that it may take some time for apple to recognize the request as it did for me... twice-  A few links

Error (-36) while moving files

This can be a result from many things...   it can actually be from a few problems some of which can be easily resolved.  I cannot stress the importance of backing up!!!

This is caused by hidden (dot) files in the files that you cant see-

Heres is what to do:

Adding Recent Applications to your Dock

Recent Items Stack

Stacks are quite the handy addition to your Mac’s dock and we figured out a way to make them even more useful by creating a stack that automatically contains your most recent applications.

These can of course be found under the Apple menu as well but it’s much more convenient to have them right in the dock.
